Simple answer, it's not. One need look no further than DHL to find a multinational furiously working the baton in a US hub. Personally, I have a hard time seeing this gang as survivors here. Then again, I thought JetBlue had no chance.
Or Fedex operating a hub in Germany and doing intra-European routes.
