They invent a penumbra when it comes to pay and scheduling, but stick whole-heartedly to limits that are more conservative to FAR 117, with no personal waiver authority. We're seeing really bad pay protect errors. The lines are restricted to the very senior and almost half to 2/3s of the list are on pure reserve or composite schedules. On top of that, we have some db@g senior guys whining about their 95 hour lines and not being able to pick up a 200% trip because the company violated their own policy (or just don't care) and some junior guy managed to pick it up in open time while on min guarantee (i.e. it's supposed to be in open time 48 hours prior and not a VFN, but the contract allows the company to issue VFNs for 200% pay at their leisure). For which the junior guys are being labeled as jerks, etc. The company isn't paying people properly and they appear to still be unconcerned...apparently the crew payroll position is one person...for 700+ pilots and who knows how many FAs.
All valid concerns, however we have a corporate culture that is still making the mental changover from being staunchly anti-union to dealing with their new reality... and meanwhile we have a full changeover in IBT leadership, and it will take our new guys time to get settled in and start advocating on our behalf.
