When I was a CRJ-200 captain, I had my taxi lights (wing roots angled down) on and strobes on entering 21R at DTW. The fine professional in the DC-9 opposite me turned on all his lights in my face as I was lining up because he didn't like the extremely dim taxi lights on in my barbie jet being shined somewhat in his direction.
I thought for a moment to really light him up in retaliation or even say something on the radio, but decided otherwise in the name of actual professionalism.
If you don't like the lights of the guy on the runway, look away. They are the ones in the line of fire, not you.
