It's not very often there is someone sitting opposite you in ATL... only the FDX/UPS and corporate departures which are few and far between end up opposite facing. They probably didn't even notice or think about it.
For the sake of standardization most DL pilots treat every airport like ATL.
Fine by me. Takes about a quarter second to look down if the parking brake is set.
