NorCal growth should be independent of any SoCal plans. And SFO is gate constrained, OAK is SWA fortress hub, which leaves SJC as the only option (and not necessarily a bad option).

Similar story in SoCal. LAX is gate constrained (even with expansion plans), SNA is slot restricted and slim chances of getting more than a few there, LGB is well... LGB, which leaves ONT as the only other option (again, not necessarily bad option).

SJC and ONT as west coast growth hubs wouldn't be terrible, but it isn't ideal either. Fact is that we do best when we have lots of interline international traffic feeding our flights, and there isn't much at those two spots. We DO need to grow out west, just a question of how?
