No matter what regional/feeder/time building job you have you keep your head down, do you job and go home. The goal is to walk into the CP's office with your resignation letter and they ask "do you work here?"
Personally, when I resign, I would prefer my Chief Pilot to say:
"I wish you weren't leaving. You have been a great instructor and check airman, and really helped us out in the safety department. The new hires that you mentored will miss you as well. I know that you will do great, and I can't believe that you got hired by your legacy of choice after only 3 1/2 years at a regional. It must have been that letter of recommendation that I sent them, but it was well deserved. Have a great career at United/Delta/FedEx!"
