You're right it'll never happen, but I thought it was an interesting idea.

A first year guy probably has a better chance of completing initial MD-11 training than an experienced FedExer. A new guy has more recent stick time and more than likely came from an electronic jet with FMS and glass. I've heard the guys who bust out of initial MD-11 school tend to be someone who has been away from the front seat for more than five years (SOs and SO LCAs) or real senior captains who have not been in an initial training class for years. But your point is valid regarding the risk new hires take; that's a lot to put on the line in case you don't make it!
