Either you're distressed to everybody or you're distressed to no one. By definition awac is not distressed. UAL MEC does not control UAL hiring, so whatever they might've "worked out" at the hotel bar holds no legal weight to change UAL hiring practices.

And United is the only ALPA carrier that has contract language speaking to this so it's not "strange" that it happened. Lastly, there wasn't a deal worked out between ARW and UAL MEC, it was UAL MEC getting the green light from the company and then telling ARW that they are allowed to do it.
