It's not the entire contract. Like nearly all recent mergers, for JCBA purposes the strongest/best merging airline's CBA is used as the template, and only 3-4 sections are opened to be negotiated to meet the expedited timeline. One example of a section to be opened is Section 3 compensation. So just the 3-4 sections are opened up for direct negotiation and worse case, arbitration. Both sides could have something to lose in arbitration. The rest of the JCBA is current AS contract. I don't bet in Vegas but if I was I'd guess it probably won't go as far as arbitration for any of the sections decided for open negotiation.
