Not this go around. The competitive times change based on the number of apps received and the overall pool of applicants. 3000-3500 is considered competitive this go around, that is the information I received just a week ago from someone involved in pilot recruiting. We have some folks in training right now with no 121 or turbojet experience or college degrees. Not saying they are bad pilots, but the landscape is changing.
Not sure where you getting your information but the window has not even closed so they will not know until it closed and finds out what it is competitive this time around. The rest of the post is spot on!
Either way every airline is seeing less total pilots interested and filing out apps because there are less total pilots. Period!
