I think the slide was a last ditch effort as they found out last min the stairs they had did not comply with DOT3 since the station didnt let anyone off. By no means did I get the sense that this is Standard ops. In fact quite the opposite. Someone asked "will this be standard procedure in the future?" And he said "no, no it will not".

They had stairs in place in time, but the station didnt have personel to deplane. That was the root of problem....
