I'd bid 737 at your base of choice and then get your feet wet actually flying a jet for United. You can always bid to a higher BES ANYTIME after your hired... so why tie your hands with a 756 on day 1 if given the choice? Fact is that you will be a line holder on the 737 much quicker... if you bid 756 you will always be the bunkie (never touch the yoke) and on reserve for a year/two at best.
Pay is really a non issue also the first couple years... so enjoy yourself and start by flying the line.
Agree with everything except for the bunkie comment. If your LAX or SFO you'll get plenty of stick time.. there are no bunkie routes. East coast however yes you'll be bunkie a lot and going to landings class a lot.
