My experience has been that a silver bullet is fine, but you still have to attend a job fair, barring a few individuals who occasionally get on without attending one. So why bother trying to get a silver bullet?

Again, I hope I'm wrong.
You are wrong! It does help your candidate if you are a pilot in good standing. What I mean by this is that I use to do interviews and some Silver Bullet Candidates thought that they were going to get hired based on being sponsored by a line pilot. WRONG! You still have to show up prepared. After so many Silver Bullets from a pilot and each candidate not either being prepared or having a really bad resume(errors all over the place), would put your Silver Bullets either in the regular pile or in the back.
When you recommend somebody make sure you know who they are and vett them thoroughly. You will be surprised what candidates slipped through the cracks from not being vetted properly. Guess who the blame comes on? You the pilot!
