This is what finally did it for me - last spring. I tried to help as many folks as possible get hired at Atlas back in 2013 and 2014. I tried to offer insights and remain positive. I saw the potential of the company and what it could become. The managers are smart folks who had made some good business decisions. Even when others were telling me to get my apps out I resisted. I waited for the 2015 fourth quarter results (late January 16 announcement) and hoped for a positive outcome. But when the SA purchase was announced in the manner it was to our union I saw the writing on the wall in big neon letters. I updated an published my apps as quick as possible. I was hired at my first choice 5 months later. Having a military background I didn't have a comparison CBA. Now that I'm in a much more established carrier with a well developed CBA I can say "*** was I waiting for?" Much better pay and in some ways more importantly, the work rules are much more beneficial to the pilot group. I don't hate Atlas for the current situation. I wish it could have turned out differently. I had a great 3 years on the 747. The crews were awesome, the destinations were great (for the most part), and I still have a number of folks there I'm proud to call friends. But Atlas has become a resume bullet for younger folks. I wish everyone well there and hope it turns out well. But I was approaching an age where it was time to make a decision that would be long term. I couldn't afford to wait and hope any longer. My family and I are more than happy about the decision. Since leaving I've received calls from captains and first officers regarding their upcoming interviews at my current company. Others whom I did not know are also showing up on our seniority list monthly.

8 and others who are long time posters on this board have good advice regarding Atlas. Folks here shouldn't be so quick to discount their well informed advice. Think of it as 2 guys sitting at a bar having drinks at F St, Jetlag Club, the Irish Village or your favorite watering hole. If you take the time to read through their historical posts and disregard your emotions you'll see they're simply trying to make sure you know what you're getting into.

Atlas' 2016 fourth quarter results are due to be released on 23 Feb. You might do well to pay close attention to that earnings call. Read between the lines and ask yourself what was NOT mentioned. That's just as important as what is discussed.
