Spirit Airlines Dips After Guidance Rattle Investors

Feb. 7, 2017 1:50 PM ET|About: Spirit Airlines (SAVE)|By: Clark Schultz, SA News Editor

Spirit Airlines (SAVE -2.9%) trades lower after topping Q4 estimates as investors focus on the company's guidance.
It seems the investors cant understand the concept that RASM has dropped because of pricing pressures in markets that didn't exist in 2014 and prior.

Bob remarked that he doesn't look at anything from 2014 and before because Spirit was allowed to run a free for all in any market without price competition. Now we are seeing the competition so RASM is dropping YOY, but our CASM continues to drop as well, preserving those 20% margins.

It's always funny that the company continues to beat street estimates as it produces high margins, while continuing to lower costs, but analysts still want revenues to increase as well.

Too bad "High Fives" and "Shout outs" dont generate revenue for the company.

In the end, I dont care. They get paid to worry about that, I fly planes. Our CFO still has scorched earth smell on him from his destruction of Pinnacle Airlines, hoping he read a book or two to prevent it from happening again.."CFO for Dummies"
