At least the other "air line" you mention is actively growing and doubling in size in the PNW, while AS just farms out all the new flying to the rj's. They're stuck in an old mindset and are about 15 years behind the real legacies.
To each their own. I'll swing gear all day long as long as my QOL and pay are appropriate. Check out the 737 orders Alaska has set and then re-phrase your "no growth" statement. Check out all of them fancy new EWT EMB 175s flying around with Air Lines painted on the side on the west coast. Air Lines isn't as innocent as you make it sound. How many regional planes fly with Air Lines paint? Compare to Alaska and you have no argument. Alaska will get scope this year..that's one thing Air Lines pilots have done right in contract negations. 15 years behind is a little dramatic, kind of like your post.
