Went by HR week and a half ago, they're "amazed" at how many high quality applicants they're getting. Many are current captains and often IOE instructors flying widebody jets all over the world. They do look at other applicants too but the vast majority of those getting hired are basically flying the type of equipment and trips an average ups pilot is doing on a daily basis.

Assuming no growth in the current size of the pilot group (~2600) *and* the only attrition being Age 65 retirements, the current plug would reach 73% seniority by the end of 2025 and 50% seniority by mid-2029.

Pilot group growth to staff the 747-8s and early retirements should move that timeline along a little faster....in theory, anyway.
