If you are willing to potentially risk a career on it then go for it. Personally I would not. Who are you to advise someone else who is brand new and potentially taking guidance from this forum (which they shouldn't) on an issue which could affect them severely down the road. Could they be called? Yes. 100%. They are good for 16hrs of duty. SAN and taxis are quite common lately.
While I understand people's rationale in calculating time, the union would have a very difficult time representing you in a section 19 hearing with that mindset...it would be difficult to explain that in your next airline interview as well
