I Have about 5500 total with 180 multi, 600 135 hr's single engine, been out of commercial flying since 1996, some recent sim hrs otherwise very sporadic hr's last 10 years.
Just wondering what advise you have for getting back into flying and getting a good job. I know everyone is hiring but my recency is an issue I'm sure and I was hoping not to have to instruct anymore. Have like 4000 hr's doing that.
And just if anyone is wondering why a 5500 hr pilot is sitting on the sidelines? I had issues with my visa that prevented me from getting a job which left me instructing too long, and then the timing when i got it sorted out and 9/11, raising a family bla bla bla,,no other issues.

I would suggest looking at the night freight operators - Caravans, 310's and the like. You could use some more multi time to make yourself more competitive for the best jobs, but mostly you need to show 100-200 hours in the last six months. No one wants to retrain pilots to fly instruments! A couple of hours under the hood in a 172 and you should be ready to start with AirNet, Martinaire, Wiggins, whoever is in your neck of the woods.
