Its unfortunate but things do not look good for a new hire wanting ORD at envoy. I would guess a new hire today wanting ORD may have to wait a year to hold the base, endure another year of RSV in ORD and may never upgrade in base before flowing. SkyWest is doing a ton of new flying in ORD now. They might be a good option to explore. To keep things in perspective though, one's regional experience in the current airline retirement scheme, should only be about 6 years, give or take. While not commuting is a huge consideration, in the grand scheme of one's airline career, their life at a regional should only involve 10 - 15% of their career, overall. Choosing whatever course one believes that will get them a seat at a major airline should be weighed carefully. Opinions vary widely as what route will land a major job the quickest, but in the end, whatever decision you make, you will be the one who has to live with it, for the better or worse. I'm just recommending that you give it some thought.
