I assume a lot depends on what can be/will be "general use" gates, like in ORD. Where we dont own the exclusive rights to the gates, but have access to them. In the end, Spirit doesnt care if the gate has Virgin signs and ear buds in the boarding area, as long as it boards onto a yellow Airbus
