I doubt you have anything to worry about. CAL is doing now what every other carrier has been doing for years: diversify. Delta is the king of this. Go to any podunk midwestern town with DAL service and you'll probably see Comair, ASA, and CHQ all sitting on the ramp. As you work your way south, toss in Freedom. If any one of those strike (and two of us are in contract negotiations right now) all that happens is one of those flights cancel with minimal effect on the system. They just reroute people through CVG instead of ATL or vice versa. Not to mention the pain in the ass it would be to identify "struck" work.
On the flipside...if XJT struck...CAL's entire regional jet service is done. CAL didn't take that flying cuz you guys have a bad product...they took it to protect themselves. And likewise, if CHQ wasn't doing that flying, SKW, Mesa, TSA, etc. would be and you would hate all of those guys instead of us. Although, at least then someone else would get to pull their eyes out trying to match their procedures with people that tell you everyday "Well this is how XJT does it..."
So...XJT has to diversify who they fly for...which they are. You guys got DAL on the west coast, branded flying nationally, and I wouldn't be surprised if you picked up another codeshare or two at some point in the next couple years. Then we can all get on here and complain about how XJT took our base and how unfair life is.

I think your job is just fine.
