It is still our procedure to have one engine running until ground power is hooked up. That has not changed. So be it if you have to use all that gas with 2 or 3 spinning because of fire detection. Some rampers look confused that the engine is still on, is everyone else shutting down early or what?
#1 can be shut down as long as the APU is up and running. Obviously or the plane goes dark
Procedure is:
Eng 2 is shut down as soon as APU is AVAIL, to provide for secondary/redundant fire protection.
At the gate, ENG 1 is shut down when GPU is hooked up OR APU is up providing power.
Perhaps I just misunderstood what you were saying, but we do not keep #1 and the APU up until the GPU is attached.
