Well for starters, there are many out there that simply cannot afford to work for places like Spirit & Frontier. That is nice you were able to take such a substantial pay cut, but many cannot do that. It would take years to recoup that money.
Do you already have your PIC time? That is something else a new hire, or anyone else hired in the last decade, will never see. That said, the game is changing a bit and maybe PIC time isn't what it used to be.
