Appears some junior H76 FOs who bid 75 captain got a year or more tacked on to their dates.
No idea why that might happen, but perhaps A) passover ramifications B) FDA manning concerns or C) sim pipeline issues might be a factor.
Next bid might make 95% of this N/A, but in the short term the message it sends to those considering FDA is expect to use the move out in lieu of bid option if you feel like you want out. Either that--or take a lateral move that doesn't require additional time in the school house.
I don't think that will make it any easy for the company to entice new hires to the FDA. When the last round of new hires say "it was gonna be 24 months, then went to about 30, and then 42...." it probably has a chilling effect on some kitchen table conversations.
I'm sure both management and union will get a lot of questions on this issue--so there may be some clarity soon. Planning on moving out of HKG and having a year tacked on to the plan is a pretty big change, however. I have to imagine there will be some questions.
