Dude, is "man" ok? Many moons ago, I bumped into a somewhat intoxicated bar patron. I apologetically said "Sorry, man". He proceeded to get highly irate, yelling "Don't call me man, man!" not recognizing the irony of his protestation.

I think dude is fine. As long as it's "Captain Dude".
