I'm sorry Saab...but md11's take on your emergency was just too funny - I haven't laughed or enjoyed such a post in forever. I'm reprinting so folks can read it in real time.
Fly safe!

My 1st Emergency

Well, not too big of a deal but as we turn final to land in EWR and I go to put "Flaps 9" in, you guessed it, Flap fail, after 20 mins of circling and talking to company and running a few checklists my CA does a really amazing job of putting the airplane down right on the markers (I think she just came off of like 3 weeks vacation)and right on ref (163 kts). Wasn't a big deal in retrospect, but the pucker facto was there, the Flaps Zero approach felt kinda awkward, I couldn't help but notice the what seemed like a dozen or Firetrucks waiting for us down the end of the RWY The whole approach seemed low, flat and fast, but all in all pretty good experience, anybody remember their first emergency?

I showed up in ANC yesterday and forgot to order food so, you guessed it, I got stuck with the Beef Fillet. After 20 mins of bitching about how I can't possibly fly without my Halibut meal, my CA does a really amazing job of calling ops and getting them to bring out a Seafood Sampler. The catering guy put it right in the cooler (even though he was just off break) and right before push (2350 z). Wasn't a big deal in retrospect, but the pucker factor was there, the crab meat tasted kinda awkward, I couldn't help but notice what seemed like a dozen or so shrimp in there waiting for me. The whole meal seemed low-fat and fast, but all in all a pretty good experience, anybody remember their first emergency?
