Despite robthree's efforts to paint himself as a far superior pilot who somehow got stuck at Southern with a bunch of misfits, Southern pilots keep trickling away to prime jobs. American was the latest hire. I'm expecting UPS to pick up others.

Lol. Everybody knows my bust is what got me the job. Although my 402 time was what got me through the sim. Thank God for round dials!

Southern pilots keep trickling away, while RJ pilots get vacuumed up by airlines that sell their own seats and carry their own freight as fast as they can crank them out. Southern air is not a shortcut. You can still get to the promised land, but its going to take you longer, and you're not going to like the ride.

Southern has some of the finest pilots I have ever flown with. Most of them are trying to leave.

What is it you expect to get from Southern Air that you would not get from a RJ operator, or another freight operator? The pay is not superior at SAI. Its worse and losing ground. The schedules? 20 on 10 off is not conducive to maintaining stable relationships or home life. PIC? You're never going to sit in the left seat on the 777 at SAI. Never. The company will go out of business before you have the seniority to think about an upgrade. The 737 is plausible. How junior is that seat going Bird, Spike? Is it still four to five years? that's a loooong time to suffer substandard wages and conditions just for a 737 type.

To summarize: SAI is not a desirable final destination for the vast majority of people, nor does it offer advantages vs. flying RJs to get you to a major. Most people who have been there or are currently there warn everyone not to apply, and if offered a job to not accept it.

You can do better almost anywhere else.
