Actually,
It's you that's made quite the name for yourself. NJA has never had but a handful of FOs who were so easily vocal and never satisfied. You're the king of that bunch and most famous.
You've described pilots at NJA as "beaten by the industry" among other gems.
I don't begrudge anyone leaving for what they think will be greener pastures. There's always a ledge. There's always $100 barrel oil. Where you sit on the seniority list will determine what happens to you. Nothing else.
Leaving for UPS, Delta, even United... I can see the logic. You didn't leave for any of those options and you bad mouthed your way right out the door doing so to leave for... Virgin. It just seems like you jumped out the first door you got. It's curious.
You've decided to leave home basing and commute to JFK from the west coast for a 20k pay cut at a carrier that isn't even the primary carrier and who will he spun off in the next round of consolidation. A shield for Alaska to try and remain independent.
Be ready for it. A/M MPPs... so much fun. But you've got ALPA to insure fair integration. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
Who can blame you for leaving NJA... you created nothing here. You weren't part of any contract negotiation. You volunteered zero time with Union committees and did nothing but the minimum to get by.
I'd say Virgin got another pilot looking to make left turns and gain 40 pounds. Great, if that's what they wanted.
Upgrade times... 2010. 7 years and counting. We'll be upgrading in 2 years or less.
Retirement... nope. You didn't go for that.
Pay... $52 an hour. Ouch.
Here's the NetJets FO pay.... let's see... you'll get 13 days off a month per APCs profile as a reserve pilot so that's the equivalent of the CC72 day... plus you get a transcon commute. There's 4-6 days minimum in a commute all chewed up.
Tell us again... how much better off are you now once you start flying?
I think you would have been pulling 84k a year on the NJA pay scale with no commute and health 100% paid for, a 401k with 50% match. 84k plus soft pay of around 10% average plus any other time your agree to fly for premium pay.
13 days off with a trans con commute?!?!?! I wouldn't wish that on an enemy bro. That's 7 days off away from the airport.
You DO realize that if Alaska and Virgin integrate pilots somehow, there are VERY senior Alaska pilots that want and will get SFO?
To add more to the mystery is punching just as discussions of IBB, other seniority improvement initiatives, growth and upgrades are within reach.
You're thinking Delta, aren't you?
