We can attribute those outrageous college costs to easy-to-secure government loans. Colleges know what the "average" student can secure in loans and then sets their tuition under that cap. Imagine how much "free" college would cost the US taxpayers.
And those loans can't be discharged in BK. They will stay with you until you die and then Uncle Sam will get paid before your beneficiaries get a nickel.
