Calling for pilots to stop picking up open time fits the bill. It sucks for us in a large way, but other pilot groups (Delta, I think it was, back in the late 90s or early 2000s) have done that very thing and it bit them & their union in the ass. The best thing we can do is maintain the status quo to show we are acting in good faith. This includes pilots continuing to pick up open time.

This group has been repeatedly kicked in the teeth over the last decade which makes it even more frustrating that we are fighting with one hand tied behind our backs. The system isn't set up in our favor and it sucks but all we'll do is shoot ourselves in the foot. Fly the contract and talk to your union reps if you run into issues to it can be brought up and addressed as we go forward.

....and before I get accused, no, I have never picked up open time. I have a <1yr old at home and I commute, my time at home is far too valuable to me. And yes, I will be there on the 19th. I hope to see as many of our pilots there as is feasible.
