Another thing I have to wonder is whether the system is being gamed somehow. There are people out there who know how to write login bots for just these kinds of events. Last time around I heard that guys who'd paid big money to pilot interview prep services were somehow winding up with job fair slots.
Not trying to float a conspiracy theory so much as trying to shoot one down.
Anybody have any insights?
Since you can't hoard multiple slots and then transfer them to other people, that would be an awful lot of work and time invested to try and get your one spot. I don't suppose it's ridiculous to think a very small handful of people did this (if it's even possible for this platform), but I think it's more likely that this is simply the result of a few thousand people - many with 2 or 3 or more devices - all trying at the same time. In the end, though, whether it's login bots or 15,000 separate computers, phones, and tablet devices trying at one time, it's crazy.
