I think the intent was to make it a pain in the butt to do it, and to make pilots who tend to use a lot of sick leave subject to more scrutiny.

Yes. Exactly. We self-certify our medical fitness to fly. No doctor can tell you, "You're fine! Get out there and fly!" Instead, they will note on your EMR that you complained of having a "...raging bout of allergies ___ days ago, but now appears asymptomatic".

And for me, those visits cost $40. I will be reimbursed under 14.F.5. for the $40.

I'd go to a different doctor. My PCP happens to be a AME, and he understands the self-certification requirement for airmen...so the 4-minutes he sees me gets him $40 without having to get close to a sick person. Win-win.

Agree. I don't think they're managing sick leave very well. I get the impression the chief pilots are frustrated that they can't do much about it. The guidelines seem to be set by lawyers.

So, we get better sick leave accruals than our peers...and dumb management of it.
