I will add that the lack of intercom usage is pretty ridiculous. I didn't realize it was built that way until I sat on a Delta jumpseat. All other operators seem to have it figured out.
That seems base dependent and luckily my base is much less stupid then others.
You have to train your captains to use the hot mic. I flew with a few guys that refuse to use them on the 900's because they "are not use to hearing themselves talk while flying." When I fly with these guys that don't like the hot mic I speak lower than they do. Then, tell them over the hot mic that you cant hear what they are saying. They always use the hot mic after that. I use Bose ANR and im not flying with one ear off just because...
