Smoke and mirrors of the negotiating game aside, I would much rather have my NC come in with a realistic number, based on fact, and stick to that, for no other reason that that is the rate of pilots today.
It doesn't matter anyways. The morons who think we should be shooting for X Y and Z are so in the minority, they are simply, the minority and have no affect on whatever vote we have. There are some clear facts that pilots of this group need to accept that WILL happen in this next contract, accept it or move on to another airline. Change is coming, like it or not....and if you think 29/7 will be here in the next contract, you're delusional.

You have to add $100 to the Delta rates to make a dramatic point.
I suggested this current ask should have been 3-5% higher than they did. Not because its a car lot, but because it's a negotiation.
And in my opinion the current ask is the bare minimum that should be entertained. And it's a good bet the NC will come off of this bare minimum ask
And we will see not just the current 5% below united asking now but another 5% below.
Oh and in case you haven't considered it United and Delta 320 drivers move on to 757 and 777's 10 years down the road continue to enjoy pay raises. We don't have that option. So we better make sure we don't have a bottom of the pack contract again.
