It depends... Getting to MIA is not easy. There's a lot of pilots and flight attendants doing the same commute. Commuting out of JAX to MIA if you decide to join RAH for instance is easy because they do most of the flights and since it's their plane you'd have a good priority, and there's always the jumpseat. Out of MCO would be tough and out of TPA you don't have as many flights to and from MIA. But it all depends on what you want to do and what your priorities are. There is a lot of people that would call you crazy for considering Silver for instance, but I know a guy that went from Silver to Xtra. He spent 2 years in Silver flying out of MCO, living in base and now he flies a 737 and still lives in MCO. He goes positive space wherever the company needs him to go.
So decide what you want, determine what's important for you and go for it. If you're single and have the flexibility to move and live in base, that' the best way to do it. Your QOL living in base is waaay better than it'd be as a commuter, but every scenario is different. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions.
