If you can get through the 1st year on credit cards and are under 40 yrs old,
the future is looking better for the Legacy carriers.

Pay for a Hotel or pay for a 737 type and try to get on at SWA.

Hey, I was a commuter/regional guy. I remember lots of guys that couldn't afford to try for the majors due to large house payments, kids, heroin addiction (just kidding).

But if you can, even UAL which has no domestic duty rigs right now, but will get better on their next contract, I think it'd be a great move.

But hey, i stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
I couldn't agree with you more, and have certainly applied to every legacy that is hiring. I am under 30 without a family depending on me, so it makes it a little easier to contemplate the leap. With UAL only projecting 100 this year, I've not seen any numbers for next year or beyond. Is it still worth getting some face time at AirInc this weekend? Since everyone except for AA is hiring, is there really a best case scenario airline to get on with? It's my humble opinion that whatever company would put the most pilots behind you the quickest would be the best job security. Not to ignite a separate debate, but I'm guessing those of you who are already there would tell me not to try and predict anything. It is hard to forget your hometown airline though...
