I think it is hard to pinpoint one or two reasons but as far as I know it mostly comes down to the sim. IMO you have to know much more about the Airbus than a RJ to fly it because the automation is more complicated to understand. Take that and throw in the fact that you train and check as the captain with only 4 sims. Not to mention day 2 in the sim is emergencies In Bogota..... engine failures in Bogota make LGA look like pre school.
