The best gig in this biz is the one that fits you best...whatever that fit is. The happiest pilot I've ever known has been in the right seat at Skywest for 12 years. Refuses to entertain the thought of 'moving up'. Not my cup of tea but I couldn't be happier for him or more proud and impressed he followed his own council. Unlike some senior 787 captains I know, he's very happy...the truest measure of success.
Many a DAL/UAL FO have prematurely envisioned themselves in the left seat, only to find themselves furloughed several times. Trust me. Advise your friends not to spend their future captain pay checks just yet.
