I witnessed one person get kicked out for failing a written test and walking away with a $75k private pilots license . . . No joke. The experience you get is great. There is no other place that will put you in a twin and send you across the country. If you are older with a lot of opportunity, not a lot of time and mature enough to handle the course load then I would recommend it. If you are 19 and looking for a cool lifestyle, I'd say go get a degree first. Also remember that programs like embry riddle are mostly a part 142 school. You will do very little flying in a real plane. If you want an aviation degree program there are many other options such as UND, OU, Louisiana Tech, Spartan etc.
I am calling major BS on the failing a written test and out 75k with a PPL. ATP or any flight school will not kick you out for failing a written test. No way! That may have been the straw that broke the camel's back, but that is not why anyone gets kicked out of a flight school.
