I trained at ATP and all I can say is that it is a firehose to the face. It isn't for everyone and the company has no patience for people who fall behind. All ground is self study but they give you the resources to succeed if you truly want it. If you fail they will take your money and you will be screwed. I witnessed one person get kicked out for failing a written test and walking away with a $75k private pilots license . . . No joke. The experience you get is great. There is no other place that will put you in a twin and send you across the country. If you are older with a lot of opportunity, not a lot of time and mature enough to handle the course load then I would recommend it. If you are 19 and looking for a cool lifestyle, I'd say go get a degree first. Also remember that programs like embry riddle are mostly a part 142 school. You will do very little flying in a real plane. If you want an aviation degree program there are many other options such as UND, OU, Louisiana Tech, Spartan etc.
