We got stranded at the regional level because of 9/11..the 08 meltdown and the age 65 thing. After all those years we became senior guys at a decent company. We make fair money, weekends off, holidays off, and decent vacation time. Thats where the apprehension to move on stems from. Again, it wasn't meant as an attack towards your pilot group.
I'm your generation, I get all that. I don't care what SGU does to anybody, because I have no control over that. If they had asked me, I would have told them not to go buying up other regionals, but they didn't ask.
We don't necessarily like everything the company, or the regional model, does to us either. But regional pilots are temps at best, and you cannot ever forget that. If it suits you to work as a temp, and you have the ability to sustain yourself financially if/when they replace you with some cfi who's worked at mesa for 20 months then that's your choice. Generally the regional with the best pay and contract is next on the chopping block.
But if you hope for six figures AND stability in the airlines you need to move on to the majors. No guarantees there of course, but the odds are sure better.
