Indeed. THere are ways to mitigate the BS as a TR though. Min running, and I mean ARC no-kidding legally-defined shoeclerk reservist weekend drill commercials "min running", is an option for the TR in ways an AD component guy simply doesn't have at his/her disposal. So you go take a little sabbatical, burn only UTAs, and it's a good year. If you can't stay qualified on that min run is not on you. By the time they get around to admonish ya, it's november 1st, and you go back to model Citizen Airman. Not advocating anybody play hardball with their unit, but like you said, take care of número uno, and I don't mean flight lead....
