Two things... I am outta touch with the whole hiring thing. My friends and I all have been in the majors or sub-majors for years. I just pass stuff on.

1) Was in a RJ jumpseat the other day. Asked which airline is No 1/2/3. They both said Delta. Now I'm sure you could counter me on a number of issues but this is what the RJ operators told me.

2) My bud at JetBlue said they are hiring the bottom of the bucket. Guys w/ no degree, DUI's in background and other skeletons that will prevent you from hire at the Delta and maybe the others.

Any of the big 3 will at this time, place and moment be a great career for anyone. Depending on where you live, the commute you will have and aspirations all of the big 3 are by far the best move.

Then you have the others... Cargo, Southwest and the rest (JetBlue, Spirit, Frontier and Allegiant). You can make a decent career at any of the airlines I stated above. But just like being a doctor and what med school and program you are accepted into, it may come down to what airline calls you or what floats your boat. Obviously the big 3 will pay more, you can work less for more, have a better retirement, better work rules and medical. The cargo operators will pay well but have a different type of flying which some like and some don't.

Anyways, I am off my soapbox and thought those two points I came across this week interesting enough to share.

Cheers.
