The GDO days will be part of your 6 day HDO block. So you will still have a block of 6 days off plus your other 6-7 RDO and FDO days. This can burn you if you don't want your 6 day block where your 2 GDO days are.
This is not true if you are awarded GDO's you give up the contractual right to have 6 days off. You can still get it but not guranteed. (Ask me how I know).
I used golden days last June not even around a holiday and got a Sunday-Monday off. I bid to have HDO's following those and ended up with Rsv days. The kicker was 3 or 4 guys junior to me had 6 day stretchs of HDO's over the exact days I was requesting. When I disputed they said it had to do with the GDO's.
