I think HA would make a lot of sense with regard to the widebodies. Here's another morsel to chew upon if the rumor of Tilden recently visiting B6 headquarters is accurate: Alaska bought Virgin for such a high cost to effectively tie themselves to the JetBlue life preserver. They knew that if we took Virgin, both B6 and Delta would drive them into the ground out west. So, they grab Virgin, even with all the debt on top of the $2.6B and having to pay Branson for the brand till 2040, and then promptly run over to B6 offering the ultimate merger. This way they ensure they have a seat when the music stops.
