They said in October of 2016 that we'd be flying more block hours and hiring would continue at 40/mo. In November, the CP came back from an interesting meeting with Delta where he said "As a whole, our Delta operation is struggling.... Maintenance is the biggest contributior to our decline in performance..." Which was followed by the company announcement that the E170s would be leaving, but not due to performance - after the CP had said our DL operation was struggling (maybe it was due to a MSP base closure) either way the company didn't give the whole truth. If it was actually due to not being a good fit, except for East coast flying, they knew MSP was closing last year, which they kept saying would not happen until it was actually announced recently. Now they say with MSP closing block hours will not be reduced. I'll believe that when I see it.
I see your logic and I'm not quick to believe things but I do believe if the planes are still here Delta will maximize their use therefore leading to similar block hours. That's just my belief and I really hope I'm right for all our sakes haha
