If it's not going to set you back too much I would do it. I had to pass up several outstanding jobs because I didn't have one. Also it is a very difficult rating to get and makes you a better pilot in my opinion.
It doesn't make you a better pilot, it makes you better in memorizing useless tidbits of information you'll unlikely ever need.
