As an aside, I've been flying RJs for nearly 20 years and have *never, ever* had a first officer or captain transmit on 121.5 for any purpose other than getting a radio freq.

Every trip my FO and I look at each other after turning down the volume, wondering who is playing games.

To blame regional pilots is asinine. I will say that not all regionals are created equal, however.
