The company tells the fo's, you're only worth30-40k/yr so that's all the effort I'm going to put in. Same with frontier and other poorly paid ulcc lcc's for example. Most guys take pay cuts to go from flying a 50 seat rj to flying a 220 seat Airbus 321. What do you think that says to the pilot about how the company sees them. If you pay them and treat them like the professional they are, they will act like it. If you pay them like a professional, you can FORCE them to act like a professional. If you don't pay them and treat them like a professional, you can only HOPE they act like a professional because you need them more than they need you (which is where we are in the industry today).
