Out time: the first time the parking brake is released after the MCD is closed.
In time: the last time, after WOW, that the parking brake is set. The in time is triggered by the opening of the MCD.
One thing I noticed recently with the new 6 zone ACARS, was that we couldn't block out until AFTER we had our TDM back.
As for block in, say you land, stop, set the parking brake at 1500. You arrive at the gate at 1510, but don't set the parking brake and just hold the brakes, when the MCD is opened, it will send 1500 as the time. On the flip side, you arrive at 1510, you set the brake, wait 10 minutes to open the MCD until a gate agent arrives, it will send the 1510 time and not the 1520 time that the door actually opened, unless you release the parking brake for about 10 seconds and reset it. A lot of captains just don't understand this and they think it's the MCD that controls it.
